A few weeks back I was lucky enough to win a little competition on twitter for some ELF makeup bits, and I was so excited when I found out I had won because it was one of those brands I had always wanted to try. They've recently launched back in Superdrug so its a tad easier to get your hands on them if like me nowhere near you stocks the brand.
Since receiving the products I've been playing about with them and wearing them a lot to see how they wore and how long they last etc, you know all that fun stuff you do when you get new makeup! I received an eyeshadow palette, blush and highlight duo, a lip tint and a liquid liner.
Starting with the eyeliner. Okay so I have a love hate relationship when it comes to eyeliner. My eyes are extremely sensitive so literally all I have to do is step outside my front door and bam they start watering. So I tend to stick with waterproof liners however every now and then (when i'm too lazy to use my gel liner and brush) I will opt for a liquid liner pen and hope for the best. This is the ELF Intense Ink Liner £4.50 It is quite a thick pen and as it gets closer to the end of the nib it becomes more thin. I cant really get the hang of this I'm afraid, I just cant seem to get the knack of how much pressure to be putting on the pen to achieve a straight even line. It's also not the most intense liner I've ever owned, it's one of those very light black liners that you often pick up. Sadly because of my mega watery eyes this doesn't stand a chance and ends up down my cheeks, but hey if you don't have silly eyes like me maybe this could be your new holy grail!?
Next up, the Radiant Gel Lip Tint in Dewy Berry £5.00 I had never tried a lip tint before, so I wasn't sure what this was going to feel like. I was kind of expecting it to be like a lipgloss but mega sticky but I was very wrong. This just feels like water when you're applying it to your lips, it dries quite quickly but it is slightly tacky on your lips then but only ever so slightly. My lips aren't very rosy their quite a light pink colour and I don't wear lipstick to work because of the fear of it smearing without me knowing. However I have been enjoying wearing this because it doesn't actually look like you're wearing anything and just gives the illusion that your lips are a nice deep pinky red shade. I like this one!
The Baked Highlighter and blush duo £5.00 was one of the products I had been dying to try out, mainly for the reason that they just look so pretty. This particular one is in the shade Rose Gold and both sides are just beautiful! When I first opened this and tried to swatch it nothing came off. So I found that I kind of had to rub my finger over the product a few times almost to take the first layer off and then the beautiful shades shone through! Starting with the highlighter, it's not the most blinding one I own however it is absolutely stunning on and rather than blinding people it will just make them squint a little when they look at it. I'm not one to wear much blush infact I never actually wear it, even though I own a few its just not something thats in my daily routine. But this colour is the perfect shade and I have been obsessed with sweeping this across my cheeks. What I love about it is that you can build it up so it can be a very slight glimpse of colour if you want it to be which I really love about it.
Finally the one I was pretty ecstatic about! The Nude Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette £12.50 This is such a gorgeous palette and reminds me so much of the Naked 3 palette. The quality of this product has blown me away, the shadows are so creamy and pigmented it is crazy especially for the price tag. I'm all for the colours in this palette and theres not one I wouldn't wear it is just so gorgeous. While I was going to compare it to my Naked 3 palette I decided against it just because I wanted the spotlight to be on this one.
Ranging from soft pink hues to deep plums it is one of those palettes that I just want to include in every photograph I take from now! I've been wearing this palette non stop since receiving it and the shades are simply stunning. I've also been using it 90% of the time without an eye primer and they are just as vivid as they are with a primer. Out of everything I received this is by far my favourite item and I've become a little obsessed with it!
Have you tried any products from ELF Cosmetics yet?
I haven't picked up some of their products for ages now. The lip tint sounds really good, and great for an everyday, casual look. I'm really impressed with the eyeshadow palette as well :) xx
