If you had told me last month that in January I would be only using one tool to apply my foundation, concealer and powder I would have told you, you were mad. If you said that tool was a sponge I probably would have rolled my eyes and walked away.
I've never been into the hype of sponge blenders. The likes of the beauty blender is just a bit of a silly price for my budget, but when I seen the Real Techniques Complexion Sponge down to €4.42 (normally €5.89) back in early December I decided to pick it up and give it a try. All I can say is thank you past self you did good!
Thats right the Real Techniques Complexion Sponge is now my new favourite tool, and it does an amazing job not applying one or two products but three base products!
You can use the sponge damp or dry whatever you would prefer, personally I have been using it damp as I find I use less product than I normally would if I was using a brush or the sponge dry. Thats the first great thing about this tool, I find I use much less product than I normally would which is great because it means you aren't running out of products as quickly.
It has a flat edge and a pointed one. Great for getting into any difficult places such as around the nose or under the eyes. The sides are then great to cover a larger area such as the cheeks and forehead. It is so unbelievably soft on the skin and really gives gorgeous results.
I find that constantly dabbing the product with this to spread it around the face really allows the product to settle onto the skin really nicely.
I would recommend cleaning it after 3-4 uses just because it is a sponge and it gets dirty much quicker than a brush would. However its pretty simple to clean and takes about a minute or two to do so, and it also dries much faster than I expected it too. So if you're like me and don't fancy spending a silly amount of money on the Beauty Blender but do want to try out a sponge because everyone is raving on about them, I'd recommend trying out this one. As it's cheap and if you don't end up getting on with it you haven't lost out on a lot of money!
Have you tried out the Complexion Sponge by Real Techniques?
This sponge looks great! I have Ulta's version of the beauty blender and it's okay for spot treating areas, but it's really not that great for applying foundation. I definitely am looking to upgrade, so I might have to give this one a try! Thanks for sharing!

DeleteI have seen SO many posts raving about this product in literally just the past week, I seen it the other day in Superdrug and was so tempted to make a purchase I think I may just have too now! I love how it has a flat edge, definitely unique for a sponge and I could definitely do with an upgrade from my Ebay beauty blender dupe! Great post xx
